State men add 5th win to streak

On a cold Wednesday night in Cleveland, the men’s team was hot, taking an early lead for a 98-86 win against Notre Dame (Ohio). Four players scored in double figures.   Junior forward Pat Johnson-AgwuPat Johnson-Agwu had 25 points, Isaiah  Noel 19, Jeremiah Moore 15,and Robert Fomby 13 points and nine rebounds.

A 19-3 Yellow Jacket run started the scoring, leading to a 48-33 halftime bulge. They led by 26 with less than 10 minutes to play. State is 11-7 overall; 9-4 MEC. The men play Urbana at 4 p.m. Saturday at home. The women play at 2 p.m.

Jasmin Davis

The women’s team had their three game win streak stopped by Notre Dame, 84-77.  Despite out scoring the Falcons in the second half, State fell behind early, 26-5 in the first and could not bridge the deficit. Jasmine Davis led Yellow Jacket scorers with 22 points, including six treys. Jordan Miller added 12.  Michael Everhart had 11 points.   Aurreshae Hines had 10 points. The team is now 7-12 overall and 7-6 in the MEC.
