50 States For Freedom Initiative Opens at Aparment Earth Gallery

The largest creative arts collaboration event ever held opens today in Charleston at the Apartment Earth Gallery featuring work from the campus community. For Freedom is a group of artists that work to see creative civic engagement, discourse, and direct action in their own communities and the 50 States Initiative is the largest of its kind opening in galleries all across the country in order to promote the organization’s goals.

For Freedoms was started in 2016 by Hank Willis Thomas and Eric Gottesman who were inspired by the painting of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s  Four Freedoms(1941)  by Norman Rockwell. The Four Freedoms FDR focused on were freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want and freedom from fear, which is the conversation the group hopes to have with those who enjoy the show. Make sure to stop by the Gallery to check out and support the art made for this cause and stay for a good conversation about the four freedoms. The show will be from 5 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, October 18, 2018.
