Three Wins in a Row Bring Men’s Basketball Back to .500

After dropping back to back games against Chowan and West Liberty, the Yellow Jacket men’s basketball team reeled off three consecutive wins too bring State back too an even 8-8 record.

State took down the Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals 102-89 at home on January 12th behind a 62 point second half, and saw Pat Johnson-Agwu score a game high 27 points along with Jeremiah Moore scoring 16 points of his own.

Johnson-Agwu continued his hot streak by leading all scorers with 30 points in a 104-93 home win over the Glenville State Pioneers, while Gus Stone added 20 points of his own, while James Hagins pulled down 10 rebounds, and Frank Agyemang dished out six assists.

State then travelled too Buckhannon, W.Va. too take on the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats, whom the Yellow Jackets took out 78-64 in a grinding defensive struggle.

Johnson-Agwu continued his hot streak by leading state with 15 points, and grabbing eight rebounds. Ernest Jenkins and Frank Agyemang each contributed 11 points in the road win.

The Yellow Jackets return to the court on Wednesday January 23rd when they travel too Wise, Va. to put their winning streak on the line against the UVA-Wise Cavaliers.
