Men’s Basketball Finishes Best MEC Season Yet

The Yellow Jacket men’s team lost Saturday, Feb. 29, at the University of Charleston 85-78 but finished the regular season ranked fourth in the MEC. It was the best season since 2013, when State joined the MEC.

State’s regular season record was 18-9 overall and 13-9 in the conference, good for fourth place.

A strong contingent of Yellow Jacket fans attended the game, which was full of energy from fans and players alike. State led the game 38-36 at half but trailed during the second half.

Glen Abrams, junior guard, blasted through his 1,000th career point during the game.

At halftime, the University of Charleston was announced as the winner of the blood-battle competition, which was directly responsible for a doubling in the usual donations.

The Yellow Jackets are scheduled to play next against Wheeling on Friday, March 6, at the WesBanco Arena in Wheeling in the MEC tournament quarterfinals.
