Perennial foe Shepherd prevailed for the 38th time Saturday as State was downed by the Rams 27-7.
State started slow, held to 49 yards in the first half. Shepherd built a 27-0 halfway through the third quarter, with quarterback Tyson Bagent throwing two touchdown passes, and Deonte Glover scoring a touchdown run. Shepherd Kicker Hayden August-Scriven added two field goals to build the lead.
Yellow Jacket Quarterback Faustino Saucedo connected with Zach Pate for a 46 yard touchdown pass to give State their lone score of the game.
Saucedo went 16 of 25 for 244 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.
Running Back Calil Wilkins had 19 carries for 75 yards, while Reciever Zach Pate had 4 catches for 86 yards and a touchdown.
The Yellow Jackets will next travel to Glenville State, a game that the Yellow Jackets won in 2017 34-28.
