West Virginia State University has very many talented students and alumni, but our very own reigning Mr. State Cedrick Farmer does his best work on the stage. After playing Sebastian in the Charleston Light Opera Guild’s production in The Little Mermaid, Mr. State is back with the Theatre Company in Mama Mia! As Pepper. If you have not made it to the production this weekend will be the last showing in Charleston. See below for a link to purchase tickets and the shows information courtesy of the Charleston Light Opera Guild website.
The Charleston Light Opera Guild and the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences collaborate to present Mamma Mia! This musical staging is based on the book by Catherine Johnson and music and lyrics by Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. This is the first time the musical will be produced by a community theatre company in the region.
ABBA’s hits tell the hilarious story of a young woman’s search for her birth father. This sunny and funny tale unfolds on a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter’s quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother’s past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago. The story-telling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs propels this enchanting tale of love, laughter, and friendship, creating an unforgettable show. A large cast non-stop laughs, and explosive dance numbers combine to make Mamma Mia! enjoyable for any audience. A mother. A daughter. Three possible dads. And a trip down the aisle you’ll never forget!
