The Wilson Student Union at WVSU will be humming with activity on Thursday, Feb. 23, including a Day of Giving fundraiser and a quiz bowl event to mark Black History Month.
From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., all students are welcomed to the Goldston Dining Hall in James C. Wilson Student Union for the West Virginia State Day of Giving event. The day is reserved for donations from donors for scholarships and loans to all four of the colleges on campus.
The theme of the event is “WVSU Alumni Who Are Changing the World – Alumni of Distinction,” and includes a soul food lunch for all attendees. The goal is to raise $200,000 with 250 donors to support student success.
Later in the day at Wilson Student Union, State will host the annual Black History Quiz Bowl in the Wilson Student Union at 7 p.m. Teams of three will test their knowledge of Black history. Christopher Jackson, program director for Student Activities, encourages all staff, students and alumni to join in and take part.
Team captains should register at Black History Month Quiz Bowl and pick up study materials at the Student Activities office on the first floor of Wilson. If you are not registered, Only those who are registered can participate and be eligible for prizes.
