‘The Legacy Show’ Celebrates African American Music, History and Culture

Tami Lee Hughes and Ellen Sommer brought lively music, thoughtful poetry and evocative imagery Tuesday to the Fannin S. Belcher Theater.

Hughes is a violinist who debuted as a soloist in the National Symphony Orchestra and has performed concerts across the globe. “The Legacy Show” is an extension of her solo album, “Legacy: Violin Music of African-American Composers.”

Sommer is a sought-after collaborative pianist with credits on numerous professional recordings and is a lecturer in piano at the University of Kansas School of Music.
