Teams split basketball games with Bobcats

Senior Shae Hines scored 27 points to lead the Lady Yellow Jacket Basketball team past West Virginia Wesleyan, 75-69, at Wesleyan on Saturday.

In addition to her 27 points, Hines grabbed six rebounds and dished out seven assists.

Jordan Miller added 16 points and Amari Grace scored 12 points.
​Mari Stewart led Wesleyan on offense with 24 points, Alexa Szelong scored 18 for the Bobcats and Brittany Sawovy added 12.

​The win moved the Lady Yellow Jackets to an overall record of 9-13, with a Mountain East Conference record of 9-7 and in sole possession of fourth place in the conference standings. The Bobcats sit at 7-14 overall, and 5-10 in MEC league play with a conference standing of 11th place.

The Lady Yellow Jackets play Thursday at West Liberty.

​The Yellow Jacket basketball team couldn’t overcome a slow start and fell to West Virginia Wesleyan 84-70 at Wesleyan.  Pat Johnson-Agwu led the Yellow Jackets with 22 points. Johnson-Agwu would also lead the Yellow Jackets with six rebounds. Ernest Jenkins scored 21 points, and Isaiah Noel added 14. Langston Cooke dished out 10 assists.

​The Bobcats were lead by Dusan Visentic with 18 points. Nick Brooks scored 17, and Aaron Ariri scored 14 coming off the bench.

​The Yellow Jackets are 12-9 overall, and 10-6 in MEC play and tied for 4th place in MEC standings. The Bobcats moved to 5-17 overall, and 5-11 in MEC play, and sit at 9th place in MEC standings.

The Yellow Jackets play Thursday at West Liberty.
