Student government candidacy filings underway

The Student Government Association will hold elections next month for SGA President, SGA Vice President, University Board of Governors Representative, Mr. and Ms. State, Class Kings and Queens (Freshman class excluded), Freshman Senator, Sophomore Senator, and Senator of Professional Studies. Additionally, a Student Hearing Council position is available by appointment.

Students interested in filing for candidacy have until Feb 26, the deadline.

During the filing period, candidates for class Kings and Queens and Mr. and Ms. State are required to attend a Royal Court interest meeting Thursday.

Campaigning begins Feb. 27 and is ends March 11. Voting will be March 12-13.

During the campaign period, there will be a Meet the Candidates Forum mandatory for all candidates on March 6.


Candidates for President, VP, BoG Representative, and Mr. and Ms. State must have a minimum of a 2.7 GPA as of last semester. Candidates for President, VP, and Mr. and Ms. State must also have a minimum of 45 credits earned by the end of this academic year. Candidates for President and VP must run on the same ticket. Candidates for class Kings and Queens, Student Senate, and Student Hearing Council must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA as of last semester. Additionally, applicants for the Student Hearing Council must provide two professional references on their applications.
