State Faces Shepherd At Home Saturday

On the heels of a near comeback victory, Yellow Jacket Football will host the perennial class of the MEC,  Shepherd. Saturday. State (1-2 overall, 0-2 MEC) dropped last year’s game in a high scoring affair, 56-41.

It’s a home game at noon at Lakin Field.  

​The Yellow Jacket offense continues to be led by running back Calil Wilkins, who’s currently second in the MEC in rushing with over 500 rushing yards on 71 carries, and three touchdowns.

Dylan Lucas ahas 245 rushing yards on 40 carries and a touchdown.

​After being more of a game manager against UVA-Wise, Quarterback Faustino Saucedo had an impressive game against Notre Dame. Austin Hensley’s backup Saucedo had 28 completions on 44 attempts for 395 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception.

​Tyrell Henderson is second in the MEC with 23 receptions, 336 receiving yards, and three touchdowns. Zach Pate has 21 receptions on 254 receiving yards, and A.J. Barrette has 12 receptions for 189 yards and a touchdown. 

​Kicker Aaron Ball is  14 for 15 on PAT attempts on the season, and is five of eight on his field goal attempts, with a longest field goal of 50 yards against UC.

​Tevon Littleton is currently the top defensive player for the Yellow Jackets with 24 total tackles, with Moises Valcarcel one behind at 23 tackles, and Joe Stoneman at 22 tackles. Kyle Alexander leads the team with two interceptions.
